Natural Home Remedies
to Keep Spiders Away

Chestnuts

One of the most popular, all-natural home remedies to keep spiders away is using chestnuts.

Place the chestnuts around where spiders may enter your home, such as doorways and windowsills.

No one has ever heard of any scientific reason for this, but it has been proven effective that the chestnuts help repel spiders from your home.

This is one of the easiest home remedies for spiders, but you do need to keep in mind that you'll want to change the chestnuts out regularly.

Also, if you slightly crack or drill holes into the nuts it will significantly help spread the scent that repels the spiders.

Mint Tea

Just like with the chestnuts, mint tea is an item that spiders strangely seem not to like. Spiders have taste buds on their legs, so when they get close to an item that they do not like the taste of, they run away. Luckily, mint tea is one of those items.

If you keep mint tea bags around your door or windowsills you can kiss your spider problems goodbye. One positive thing about using mint tea bags as opposed to chestnuts is the air freshening effect from the tea. This is definitely one of the best scented home remedies for spiders.

Lemons

Spiders have their taste buds on the tips of their legs. They also hate the taste of lemon pledge.

Dust your windowsills and doorframes with the pledge, both inside and out, and any areas where they accumulate. The spiders will find that they don't want to live with you.

Autumn is Coming

First day of Autumn is September 22!!!
Autumn is a season filled with change. Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter, when days start to get shorter and tree leaves start to fall. Here are some interesting facts about autumn:

The planet On the first day of autumn, the sun is aligned with the center between the North and the South of the planet. On that day, the light and dark hours are exactly the same length. That’s why it is called ‘equinox’, derived from the Latin word ‘aequus’ which means ‘equal’.

Standing eggs? There are only two days of the year when you can stand an egg on its end, the autumn and spring equinox. To do this you will need an egg. (It does not have to be hard-boiled.) Place the egg on a hard, flat surface on its largest end. Carefully pull your hands away and it should remain upright.
