Earth Day

Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.

Recipe of the Month

Arizona Republic Fried Onion Rings
3 Onions
1 Cup Flour
1 teaspoon Paprika
¾ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 cup non-alcoholic beer (O’ Doules)
Vegetable Oil

Cut onions crosswise into 1/2-inch slices, pull apart into rings. Mix flour, paprika, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Add beer, stirring with wire whip until foam is gone. Heat at least 2 inches of vegetable oil for 5 to 10 minutes. Drop batter-coated onion rings into oil. Fry 2 to 4 minutes or until crisp. Drain on paper towels before serving.
